DRUPS and RUPS equipment
DRUPS (Diesel rotary UPS)
HITEC is one of the leading manufacturers of DRUPS and RUPS equipment in Europe. We are the factory’s representative in Finland, which enables us to always have access to the latest technical information.
As the name implies, the DRUPS is a UPS device equipped with a diesel engine and a rotary generator. It can also be called an uninterrupted emergency power unit.
The device integrates short-term UPS functions with long-term emergency power. The equipment’s primary source of energy is electricity from the grid. Electricity from the grid is passed through the unit to the load. The device removes minor faults in grid electricity, in other words, it stabilises the electricity into good-quality electricity that is suitable for critical loads.
The device maintains a small energy reserve at all times. If electricity from the grid is cut off, the device starts its diesel engine. The energy reserve enables the generator to run for the time it takes for the diesel engine to start.
As soon as the diesel engine starts, the device resumes the functions of a regular emergency power unit. The load’s voltage remains uninterrupted the entire time. When power is restored to the grid, the device recognises it, switches seamlessly back to using electricity from the grid and lets the diesel engine stop.

RUPS (Rotary UPS)
The RUPS includes all DRUPS features with the exception of the diesel engine. Therefore, the main applications of independent RUPS operation are locations where short-term power interruptions have an adverse impact. The energy reserved by the RUPS unit maintains the load’s power supply for as long as a short-term grid failure lasts.
The device also removes minor faults in grid electricity, in other words, it stabilises it electricity into good-quality electricity that is suitable for critical loads.
