History
More than 20 years of backup power solutions and their development
About us

Our team
The founders of kW-set have more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and all three are still involved in the daily activities of the company: Marko as the CEO, Jarkko as a Sales Manager and Jukka in commissioning. Since the company’s establishment, our vision has been to grow into a household name in the backup power industry, and we currently have a team of more than 20 professionals in the field. In the subcontracting chain, we employ dozens of people.

Growth
In 2004, our first small office was located along Ring Road I in Kontula. As our rental activities grew rapidly, we soon needed more space to store backup power units. In 2008, we moved to a 600 square meter industrial facility in Nuppulinna in Jokela. Currently, we are based in our own facilities of 2,500 square meters in the Sula industrial area in Tuusula. Our turnover crossed the EUR 10 million threshold for the first time in 2020.

Partner network
At the turn of the 21st century, Finland still held on to national requirements which made global equipment procurement and cooperation difficult. The situation improved with new standards and ST Manual 31 for backup power units, which we helped develop. Reliable factory-made technology no longer needs to be modified in the Finnish markets, as our customers have access to the best diesel generators in the world, such as Cummins which is one of the brands we represent.

Technology
Direct contact with international equipment manufacturers ensures that our customers always have access to the latest technology in the industry. In 2010, we delivered the first EMP backup power unit protected against electromagnetic pulses in Rovaniemi. Since then, we have continued to delivery backup power solutions that increase preparedness for crises to the Finnish Defence Forces and central government. DRUPS machines and new environmentally sustainable alternatives have been other significant technological steps forward.

Customer service and satisfaction
We are constantly developing our operations on the terms of our customers. The pricing of backup power unit maintenance has been one of the most significant steps forward. A decade ago, the pricing model was complicated for customers, and many technical details had to be clarified at the offer stage. In 2012, we were the first company in Finland to introduce fixed power-based pricing. Currently, a straightforward and transparent pricing model is broadly used in the markets.

Corporate culture
Listening to and engaging employees are very important values for us, and that is why we also develop our ways of working together. Our ERP system is a good example. The constantly developed system is reflected in both the satisfaction of our employees and customer service.
